About West Coast South E&P Framework

The West Coast South E&P Framework forms part of the overall Amey E&P portfolio.

History:
The Euston-Watford 11kV A.C. distribution system distributes power to the Euston- Watford route DC traction system. It is key and integral to the performance of this route. The supplies are derived from Acton Lane Substation and then distributed along cables routed via a series of substations
In April 2017, a section of cables near South Hampstead station catastrophically failed following a lineside fire and resulting in massive disruption to train services on both the DC lines and the West Coast Mainline. The subsequent investigations and additional inspections recommended a need of remedial actions on some sections of the cable routes. Most of the cables were installed in the late 1950s or early 1960s hence they have reached their Asset Technical life as proposed in the E&P asset policy.
The West Coast South E&P team working out of North London is a small team with a work bank to enhance the 11kv cables and containment between Euston and Watford.
Current 11kv cable renewals include South Hampstead, Willesden, Harlesden and Kensal Green as well interfaces with a UTX at Acton Lane spanning 10 tracks on the West Coast Main Line
Within the portfolio we are also undertaken various other schemes including upgrades to Acton Lane Substation to enhance the power supplies to the West Coast Main Line as well as Switchgear renewals in Wembley, Watford and Camden.
