The Role:
Responsibility for the day to day running of the Technical Office, workshop, stores and sales functions you will be supported by the supervisors of these functions. Tasked to support the business with your technical expertise and excellent leadership skills you will:
- Provide onsite technical assistance to sales staff for demos and exhibitions
- Ensure all technical specifications are compliant with relevant standards
- Ensure proper and timely product development through liaison with production units
- Maintain quality standards and documentation within workshop and technical office
- Overall responsibility to make sure health & safety standards are maintained
- Managing and motivating staff ensuring HR procedures
- Monitor all resources including financial manpower & equipment ensuring a cost efficient level of service.

Requirements:
You will have a strong background in mechanical engineering gained in the rail industry and demonstrate excellent leadership skills:
Experience of working on large rail projects will be important as you will be leading on technical issues with both sales and workshop staff
An understanding of manufacturing, distribution and resellers will be advantageous as will experience of OTM or OTP.
Chartership status is not essential but could be helpful as ill an understanding of engineering and rail standards.
Experience of risk assessment and failure analysis would be key as well as the ability to handle technical documentation
Previous experience of managing a team is essential as resolution of issues is paramount to running a successful operation.
Flexibility to roll up your sleeves and understand the culture of and SME would be a distinct advantage.
