Job Description
Job Purpose:
To ensure the appropriate management of cost-efficient and high-quality materials required to maintain operational demands in line with Yellow Rail’s policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
· Determine material requirements according to demand schedules and establish minimum stock levels to ensure operational and production continuity whilst also observing departmental budget
· Use Yellow Rail’s internal BMS to plan, order, manage and deliver stock in line with demand schedule
· Manage material safety and quality in accordance with company policies and specifications and ensure orders are only placed with company approved suppliers
· Utilise Yellow Rail’s BMS functions to monitor stock usage and build material demand and trends reports for future forecasting
· Extract key data from Yellow Rail’s BMS to analyse supplier performance based on SLAs and report back to the Management Team
· Work closely with Engineering, Production, Finance and QHSE on a regular basis to discuss business requirements and any issues relating to the supply chain that are currently affecting performance
· Ensure any risks or discrepancies that affect operations are quickly communicated with key stakeholders and mitigating actions are put into place
· Plan, develop, implement and evaluate processes for material supply from supplier to point of delivery to assist with continuous improvement initiatives
· Be constantly commercially and financially aware and have a strong understanding of how inaccuracies impact the cost, production, and customer order fulfilment
· Work with the stores coordinator to regularly check stock levels to preserve the integrity of our stock reports
· Develop and maintain good relationships with suppliers and ensure demand for materials is met and deliveries made on time
· Build and maintain a close relationship with Engineering team to ensure the quality and safety of new and re-engineered material supply and to manage any changes to current BOM’s and specifications
· Adhere to Yellow Rail’s health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of self, staff, and visitors
· Work with the Supply Chain and Procurement Manager to identify cost saving and supply chain opportunities to maximise product line margins
· Support the supply Chain and Procurement Manager with supplier review meetings and potential new business opportunities
· Support the business with ad hoc and project work as required
· Any other duties as required
Knowledge, Skills, Experience
· 2+ years of experience in a similar role
· Able to use Microsoft packages including Excel, Word and Outlook proficiently
· Highly resilient and able to perform under pressure
· Well organised with an acute attention to detail
· Must have excellent communication skills and a confident telephone manner
· Must have a tenacious outlook
· Able to work with minimum supervision
