Samuel Knight Rail are currently recruiting for a Planning Manager to join our client based in Newcastle. As a nationally recognised brand our client are seeking high performers and team players, who contribute to a family atmosphere & team culture.
As a vital team delivering public services to the North of England, our client require skilled & experienced candidates. As such candidates must hold existing Railway experience within Planning & Planning Management - this is regards routes and train planning.
Included below is an introduction to some of the duties & responsibilities of the vacancy, and in addition are a list of desired qualifications & experiences.
The role will require a successful candidate to carry out the following daily duties:
- Daily management of planning & resource teams in the team.
- Responsibility for producing timetables, train crew programs, rota's and overall performance.
- Coordinate with 3rd parties including Network Rail when facilitating engineering works
- Liaise with Network Rail and ensure adherance to applicable standards for trains driving on mainline infrastructure
- Where necessary provide provisions for disruptions to train running service (Bus alternatives etc.)
Your core responsibilities are:
- Ensuring a compliant timetable which makes the best use of resources while meeting passenger demand.
- Ensure all timetables and plans meet Network Rail standards
- Responsible for budgets which cover emergency alternative transport arrangements, regional events &unexpected costs.
- Challenge the rules of route / route plan when appropriate
- Manage a team of planning and resource staff to ensure the highest producitvity & quality of the team, and improve staff retention.
- Manage and ensure compliance with all elements of safety management.
Successful candidates will hold the following experience & qualifications:
- Experience of train planning & rostering of staff
- Expertise of Network Rail planning standards
- Knowledge & demonstratable application of experience with regards railway timetable compilation
