Full-time Faculty Position for Railway Planning and Management Lecturer
for Sol International Railroad Integrated System Engineering at Woosong University, Daejeon, South Korea
INTRODUCTION:
Woosong University was founded in 1954 in Daejeon, Korea’s fifth largest city. It is an important hub for transport, science, technology and education. Daejeon is the first city in Korea to build a railroad in 1905. The headquarters of KORAIL (railroad operator) and Korea Rail Network Authority (KRNA) are in Daejeon making Daejeon a truly railroad city.
Woosong University is well known for its Railroad Departments, its outstanding faculty, active Research & Development (R&D) programs and a cutting-edge educational environment. Its newest department, the Sol International Railroad Integrated System (SIRA) opened in 2015; and is dedicated to produce global experts who excel in railroad industry both domestically and overseas. SIRA is the first railroad engineering department in the country that offers a four year degree fully taught in English by an international faculty team, catering to both, Korean and International students.
In order to strengthen our Faculty team, SIRA is seeking highly experienced colleagues to join our vibrant department who can teach railway planning and management.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teaching responsibilities at the undergraduate level, student counseling, involvement with student clubs, and participation in other department-related activities.
Main Focus: General Management, Transportation Management/Administration, Railroad Project management, Project Planning, Project Implementation, Logistics Management, Global Supply Chain Management, Project Risk Management, Railroad safety and regulation, Quality control management, Entrepreneurship, Global marketing and Project Quality Management is desired.
FACULTY RESPONSIBILITIES & JOB DESCRIPTION:
• Instruct classes utilizing techniques and knowledge of the discipline that facilitate student learning.
• Advise and assist students in educational and career development.
• Participate in decision-making processes by taking part in department/school committees.
• Participate in multidisciplinary initiatives to support the mission of the department.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, businesses, and educational/industry partners.
• Pursue professional development.
• Strive to enhance teaching and learning techniques.
• Participate in departmental activity to recruit overseas students, both inbound and outbound, when needed.
• Maintain and develop a trusting and trusted network of overseas colleges & universities to further the student/faculty exchange programs.
• Promote professional image for the department
JOB REQUIREMENTS
• Minimum with Master’s degree (Doctorate degree preferred) in transportation management, business or public administration with experience in railroad industry will be preferred.
• Experience with classroom teaching, training, curriculum development and implementation preferred.
• Research activity is encouraged
• A good command of verbal and written English. Additional language skills (French, Spanish, and Chinese) would be a distinct benefit.
• PMI certification and a professional engineering license are desirable, but not required.
