Senior Planner - Rail
Location: WalesPurpose Of The Roll
To act as the focus and lead of Project plans for multidisciplinary schemes. To provide expert planning guidance, support and mentoring and assessment and implementation of new systems. To provide resource information for the business utilising existing systems and evolving new systems to meet changing business needs. To lead and develop business improvement monitoring and reporting within business.
About The Roll
- To abstract and provide source data information using existing software systems, including Primavera to prepare and provide resource and cost information for the business.
- To provide expert leadership, mentoring, guidance and participation in the assessment, development and enhancement of planning systems within the business.
- Provide weekly planning, cost and resource information including utilisation and efficiency ratios for the business as required for the Engineering and Resource and Project teams.
- Interface and provide the required information to the Project teams to enable Project Management reporting to be carried out including cost planning.
- To proactively improve and enhance utilisation of resources, efficiencies and Project deliverables in conjunction with Project and Engineering and Resources teams.
- Establish clear communications and work effectively with members of the team.
Relevant Key Processes:
- Develop integrated programmes for major project events such as blockades and commissioning's using planning software
- develop visualisation tools for complex works including staging diagrams and time/chainage programmes

- Develop and maintain tracker documents to support commissioning activity
- Deputise for the Commissioning Manager/Blockade Manager at readiness reviews for some events
- Liaise with the Risk Manager and IDPs to arrange QSRA meetings and minute actions
- Duty manager shift working in possessions and blockades
What Are We Looking For
Essential Skills, Qualifications and Training:
- Drivers Licence
- Computer literacy – including Primavera Advanced Level, operation of excel in full functionality and technical experience of a wide range of planning systems
- Ability to lead and implement new planning processes
Required Safety Training
- Personal Track Safety is desirable
(if required frequency of use cannot be achieved to maintain the competence,
attendance at 2 yearly refresher training is desirable, albeit outside Sentinel) - Emergency First Aid, First Aid at Work desirable
- IOSH Managing Safely – Completed
- NEBOSH National General Certificate - Completed
