Senior Planner in West Midlands, West Midlands, United Kingdom
A Senior Planner is required on a permanent basis for the early stages (pre-surveying/design work) of a major rail project. Experience of environmental works, including relocation and ecological requirements is essential.
Working for a major engineering contractor, this is an opportunity to join a market leading organisation who are involved in the UK's largest Infrastructure/Engineering projects.
Duties include:
- To manage the planning, programming and progress control as an integral member of project teams, responsible for all aspects of project planning, programming and progress monitoring, including design, procurement, and site works
- To liaise with clients, designers, subcontractors, suppliers and local authorities and undertakings on all matters relating to planning and programming
- Appraisal and co-ordination of subcontractors programmes
- To prepare and present reports on programme and progress of all aspects of projects, and to attend and contribute to site meetings and other associated meetings
- Contribute to progress control as a member of the project team
- Assist in the management of change in regards of impact on programmes and progress
- Schedule cost and resource loading
- Attend tender settlement/pre-contract meeting to explain the planning aspects of the contract
- Advise the Project Director of any potential issues/situations that could impact on milestone dates
- Provide the link and communications between the planning and the construction teams
- Identify risks and opportunities and explore all the implications with the Project Director
- Analysis of Labour Resource and Plant. Assess and evaluate construction methods and techniques
- Provide input into procurement and information schedules
- Advise on logistics and methods of working
- Identify complex construction and associated risks / opportunities and assist in resolving any problems
Experience/Skills/Qualifications:
- Civil Engineering industry experience
- NEC-3 Contract management knowledge and experience
- Primavera P6
- CSCS card
- CEMAR knowledge as contractual tool
