Senior Planner
PURPOSE OF JOB
To provide technical planning expertise on bids and projects to ensure accurate programmes and project control materials are in place, assist the Principal Planner. Also, to provide functional support where required as detailed below
ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
OPERATIONAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Produce comprehensive and professional programmes and project controls materials for bids and projects in line with the required timescales
Ensure Baseline programmes are in place and accepted by the client to form the basis to capture change and demonstrate cause and effect
Analyse performance of planning and project control material and advise the project team of likely impact and recommend improvements/mitigation
Ensure the project team is aware of and understands the programme, project drivers, key deliverable, critical and sub critical paths
Implement and maintain the requirements outlined in the Planning Manual on Projects and Bids
Undertake any other related responsibilities as directed by the Head of Planning & Principal Planner
FINANCIAL ACCOUNTABILTIES
Ensure accurate planning estimates are established for bids & projects
Ensure programmes are accurately cost loaded and include all sanctioned changes
PEOPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
Represent the function / business with stakeholders (Clients, Suppliers, other internal business functions/Disciplines)
Coaching & mentorship of juniors within the planning function
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Experience and proven track record of successfully fulfilling planning roles on complex multidisciplinary contracts
Experience and proven track record of managing and delivering through others
Applied understanding contracts and their application to Projects/Bids
Expert in the use of planning software and associated applications
Technical and commercial background in sector
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Advanced/Expert knowledge of various planning systems and techniques
