Train Planning & Performance Manager in Hulland, United Kingdom

TXM Recruit are recruiting a Train Planning & Performance Manager on a permanent basis based in the North of England who will be responsible for strategic timetable development, timetable planning, resourcing, relationship management and performance management! Key Aspects

• Resourcing, so that the operational plan meets the need of the base train plan

• Relationship management with Network Rail and Performance management, ensuring the we deliver our performance improvement targets

 

Key Accountabilities

• Lead, develop and motivate the Performance & Planning Team

• Strategically develop the base timetable to maximise business opportunities and revenue growth

• Act as the focal point for all long-term access planning

• Develop and implement a fit-for-purpose strategy that delivers a continuous drive to produce train plans including stock and crew diagrams that meet the business needs of efficiency and performance, in accordance with required timescales

• Develop improved cooperative working with other Operators and NR planning teams to produce plans that better meet the wider needs of all parties including performance. Develop and deliver project initiatives that improve integrated working

• Lead and process to determine high risk possessions that will potentially impact adversely on the business

• Act as a member of the Leadership Team, providing fellow Leadership Team members with recommendations and business cases where diversionary routes are required during engineering possessions

• Agree the train plan including timetables, stock and crew diagrams, ensuring that it meets business requirements.

• Lead and report on the financials for each change to the base timetable.

• Lead Planning input into infrastructure proposals and schemes to maximise benefit

• Take the lead in developing performance improvement objectives and targets

• Work closely with Network Rail and other TOCs and attend industry focus groups as required

• Oversee the delay attribution process on behalf of the Company

• Manage the day to day interface with the Control function ensuring the quality of output by owning the relationship with Control

• Oversee all learning opportunities arising from incident management

• Design and implementation of Performance Improvement Initiatives, working with the relevant business department to deliver the schemes as per the project timeframe

• Work with key stakeholders to ensure they deliver their agreed SMART performance objectives within the agreed timescales, challenging them where this is not the case and supporting them to deliver

About you

• An in-depth knowledge of railway operations

• An in-depth knowledge of train crew terms and conditions

• A detailed understanding of Network Rail planning processes

• Detailed knowledge of schedule 8

• An ability to positively influence and develop relationships with key Network Rail contacts

• An appropriate degree or relevant work-based experience

• Good communication and motivational skills to engage with all levels of staff

• An energetic and enthusiastic approach to problem solving and team leadership across a broad range of topics
