Wagon Planning Manager – Cambridgeshire - £70,000 per annum
I’m currently seeking a Wagon Planning Manager. The purpose of this role is to maintain the correct train set size, while also managing the maintenance and repairs of the wagon pool. The successful candidate will liaise with third parties to ensure maintenance and repairs are conducted in a timely manner.
The successful candidate will monitor the movement of the fleet, ensuring planned wagon moves are placed for maintenance and any alterations/cancellations to the daily and weekly plan are communicated to all stakeholders in good time. They will also ensure that wagon maintenance/defect shunts are completed as requested.
Other Responsibilities Include:
- Producing a daily and weekend maintenance plan, ensuring it is delivered through the Control and Regional Team
- Organising the shunt plan to deliver wagon requirements
- Ensure daily conversations take place with the contracted wagon fitters and wagon leasing companies to ensure maintenance is carried out in the correct time frame
- Collate wheel data from wheel exchange and monitor axel wear
- Produce performance statistics as requested by the Fleet Manager
- Ensure that maintenance plan revisions are communicated to the Duty Control Manager and Train Service Controllers efficiently
- Challenge Time Delay Attributes, detailing initial causes of any incident and providing further details to the performance team to assist in challenging Network Rail when required
- Ensure all documentation required for safe train operation is in order, and that discrepancies are acted upon promptly
- Report to the Fleet Manager and key stakeholders regarding any shortfalls of wet lease wagons and outline plans to bring them back to agreed contracted levels.
- Undertake TOPS integrity reporting in conjunction with the Engineering Team and Maintenance Contractors.
About you:
- Relevant degree in Engineering, Mathematics or Railway.
- Relevant experience within the railway industry, or a similar role.
- Knowledge of Total Operations Processing System (TOPS)
- Good understanding of Excel.
- Experience in report writing.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Customer focused, flexible and has the ability to work under pressure.
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Good presentation skills.
