About the job
As a Maintenance Support Team Member, you will be working as part of a multi skilled team who are key to ensuring our fleet are correctly marshalled, delivered and presented to our customers on time. You will be involved in many activities that are vital to the running of our busy maintenance depot at St Philips Marsh Bristol and will be encouraged to participate in improving processes and safe operational flexibility to deliver the highest standards.
What you'll be doing
Your main responsibilities will be:
- Assisting Multi-skilled Engineers in servicing and maintaining the GWR fleet
- Ensuring rail vehicles are safe to be moved after work has been completed
- Forklift Driving
- Fuelling of trains
- Battery Maintenance and underframe cleaning
- To couple/uncouple, shunt & prepare rail vehicles when trained to do so.
- Ensuring that trains are presented to the customer in a correctly marshalled and fully prepared condition.
About You
You'll need to be:
- Able to work as part of a team exchanging information to solve problems and participate in decision making.
- Able to create and maintain the necessary safe conditions for work activity.
- Willing to participating in improving processes and safe operational flexibility.
- Able to work shifts which will include nights, bank holiday and weekend working
- Committed to safety and delivering the highest standards for our customers
- Self-motivated and able to work to a deadline with an eye for detail
As a minimum you'll need to have:
- Experience of working within a role where strong compliance to safety standards is required at all times.
- A background in engineering or maintenance would be highly desirable
- The ability to pass the shunter selection process which includes psychometric assessments
- The successful candidate will be subject to a safety critical medical
