We have an excellent new opportunity for a Rail Team Audit Member to join our global organisation. The successful candidate will work within SGS United Kingdom Limited rail audit and inspection team, delivering audit services and technical advice to rail industry clients. The post will require regular travel throughout the UK with the occasional need for overseas travel.
Key Accountabilities
• Support and ensure correct execution of inspections and audits under a variety of accreditation schemes including IRIS and RISAS, as well as supporting client supplier approval processes
• Produce assessment reports to meet the requirements of the Company’s certification schemes.
• Providing advice to clients on business process improvements.
• Supporting the preparation of bids to clients for the provision of the above services
• Supporting the business development and administration processes as required
• Support the leadership and continued growth of the rail design approval and certification business.
• Develop and diversify auditing skills working within an experienced rail team
• Develop client relationships.
• Pursue Continuous Professional Development and maintain a high degree of discipline and industry awareness
Person Specification
Essential
• Lead Auditor with experience within the rolling stock industry, in build, Inspections, test activities.
• Experienced in conducting supplier assurance audits
• Excellent interpersonal skills and report writing skills
• Technical understanding of rail rolling stock, the supply industry, supplier approvals and maintenance processes
• Experience of rail vehicle manufacturing quality or in-service routine inspection activities
• Proven ability to audit process compliance and identify opportunities for process improvement
• Ability to build relationships.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills,
• Articulate and accurate verbal and written English language
• Ability to communicate at all levels.
• Proven expertise working within a rail accreditation environment with relevant vocational qualifications
Desirable
• Commercial view and able to align with, and understand, client’s requirements.
• European Language skills would be an advantage, however are not necessary
• Experience of the operation of railways
• Technical apprenticeship within the rail industry.
• Experience of rail vehicle manufacturing quality or in-service routine inspection activities would be an advantage.
• Practical experience in a rail depot vehicle maintenance or overhaul works would also be an advantage.
• Auditor qualifications ideally with current IRQA registration
• A comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Quality and Environmental systems, including ISO9001:2015.
• Membership of a professional body
