Ford & Stanley - The Rail Recruitment specialists are looking for a Material Controller on a 6 month initial fixed rate contract to work for one of the most successful and pioneering train manufacturers in the world. The opportunity to become an integral part of a dedicated supply chain team that has a direct impact on the success of the company.
Location (s): County Durham
Role and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and execute scheduling activities for assigned part numbers using advanced planning system. (SAP)
- Identify and react to material plans that do not meet Production requirements.
- Monitor and manage any returnable packaging to and from suppliers.
- Analyse data to determine opportunities to decrease inventory, improve Production service levels and reduce total costs.
- Conduct regular cycle counts, share, communicate and report on variances to the Materials Manager.
- Interact with the Master Scheduler to understand demand and forecast.
- Use and maintain MRP data as the primary planning system tool.
- Provide input in developing departmental strategies for inventory on existing items, new product introduction and phase outs.
- Create statistical reports on supplier performance and inventory accuracy.
- Share data with relevant departments and external suppliers.
- Interact with other departments as and when required.
- Work closely with supplier to ensure no areas of concern including monitoring their stock holding
- Provide feedback to the supply chain on risks regarding replenishment levels and demand
Candidate Requirements:
Applicants should be able to demonstrate all of the Essential Requirements listed below:
- Min of 2 years in a planning/procurement role within a manufacturing facility
- Experience with a computerised inventory control system.
- Competent IT Skills in Microsoft Office.
- Must be able to work on own initiative.
- Ability to work without close supervision
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Commitment to working as part of a team
- An understanding of health and safety requirements of a working environment
- SAP experience.
Desirable skills:
- MRP experience.
- Experience of statistical reporting, forecasting and understanding of financial and operational impacts of forecasting.
