Samuel Knight are pleased to be recruiting this fixed term contract position for a Train Running controller, to join our Operating Company client & be based near Doncaster as part of an their huge expansion plans in 2018.

Successful candidates will be pay rolled by a third party for the duration of the temporary fixed term contract – if a permanent position is available and offered at a later date, this will be in the form of an employment contract with our client.

It is possible that the role will turn into a permanent position in the next year.

The typical daily duties will include;

• Communication between employees responsible for running a scheduled rail service. Typically management teams, customers and press officers.
• Management of resources to ensure they are provided at the correct place & time as demanded by the train schedule
• Reduce the impact of incidents, delays and cancelled services
• Acting as the first line responder for company interests

The principal areas of responsibility in this role are;

• Part of a team responsible for running an efficient service delivery
• Health and Safety
• Compliance and Standards

The required knowledge, training and experience are;

• Extensive knowledge of Railway operations
• Very good local railway knowledge
• Handle pressure very well
• Knowledge of railway performance standards
