Driver Depot Manager

Samuel Knight International are currently recruiting an Depot Manager for our client who is one of the UK’s leading train operating companies.

You will be responsible for directing and managing train crew operations to make sure that safety and performance standards are adhered to. To develop and implement initiatives to sustain and improve productivity and also performance in line with objectives and goals.

We are seeking someone who is experienced or someone who is experienced in a position of this sort and has great leadership skills. The candidate must also have a thorough understanding of policies in the railway and extensive knowledge of train driving.

Accountabilities:

• Lead, direct and manage the Driver Managers in their roles daily
• To establish and manage the budget
• To carry out train crew depot safety checks to maintain Group Standards and to ensure that recommended changes and improvements are implemented
• To investigate train working incidents and irregularities and to recommend an action plan for a solution and to avoid recurrence
• To chair consultation and negotiation meetings with representatives of the recognised Trade Unions
• To manage the train crew depot performance at the Depot including determining the correct establishment, dealing with recruitment, disciplinary and welfare issues.

Candidates must have:

• GCSE English and Maths
• Experience working within a managerial environment
• Well-developed leadership and people management skills
• Extensive knowledge of Railway Operations and Standards
