Balfour Beatty currently have opportunities for Driver Operators to join our Rail team to work UK wide on our new and exciting Stoneblower contract. Locations are:
East Midlands (Doncaster, Leeds etc.)
West Midlands (Birmingham, Stafford etc.)
Western Region (Bristol, Swindon, Reading etc.)
Stoneblowers maintain the track by pneumatically injecting small stones under the sleepers filling the voids and stabilising the track. The current Stoneblower fleet consists of 14 operational machines – 11 Plain Line machines allocated to specific geographical areas throughout the UK rail network and three Multi-Purpose machines which operate across all areas of the network.
As a Driver Operator you will;
- Work to roster as required
- Have previous experience as a Driver Operator
- Carry out safety of the line checks prior to any machine departures
- Comply with all statutory and company policies and procedures
- Read and confirm/acknowledge receipts where required of safety of the line information (WONS/ PONs,etc) and all relevant safety briefs
- Maintain regular communication with team members, safety representatives, planners
To be successful in this role you will;
- Have IT skills including Outlook, Excel, Word, Adobe Acrobat
- Have sufficient knowledge of machine and systems
- Be a fully qualified driver operator
- Have route knowledge
- Be able to risk assess
