We are looking to recruit an Acceptance Engineer within West Midlands Trains to support the Acceptance Manager to ensure that the new fleet are delivered and all contractual requirements are met. You will ensure that a product is delivered that complies with the agreed design and technical specification. You will lead the final unit inspection prior to acceptance of the fleet as well as close out remaining open technical issues and specification requirements from the design, build, test phase. In addition you will assist with the fleet acceptance programme, including QPA unit inspections with the Owner and Operator teams.

Acceptance Engineer Responsibilities:

Acceptance Engineer Requirements:

  • Quality Inspection processes for new trains, including FAI, Acceptance, type testing
  • Previous experience of new train manufacturer and introduction in the UK as well as experience of new train manufacturer and introduction in the UK
  • Good Verbal and Written communication
  • Glass case inspection experience, both writing and application
  • Standards Management
  • Ability to communicate and influence effectively with peers and senior leaders
  • Ability to establish a course of action for self and others, managing time, resources and surrounding circumstances to deliver objectives
  • Good team work, high MS Word and Excel competence, ability to manage risks and understand problems
  • Decision maker and taker, capable of working on own initiative
  • Ability to work under high pressure and challenging deadlines
  • Full-time availability, with the ability to work flexible hours which may include some overnight working
  • Availability to travel occasionally and be away from home for up to three nights per week
