Job Purpose
To carry out Goods Inwards inspection of safety critical and mechanical components to engineering drawings using various measuring instruments. To undertake final/in-process inspections of overhauled safety critical components, assemblies and processes to ensure their compliance with relevant standards and specifications.
Key Accountabilities
To interpret engineering drawings to ensure goods received are measured/tested to comply with specifications.
To use various measuring instruments and techniques to ensure component compliance with specifications.
Record and report non-conformances using various software packages
Complete SAP stock transactions in relation to goods inward inspections
Carry out in-process inspections at predetermined hold points to check compliance during the overhaul of equipment.
Conduct finished work inspection of overhauled components/assemblies IE signaling relays rolling stock wheel-sets, Trackside Signaling equipment, bogies etc
Verify required Quality Assurance documentation is completed and accurate
Carry out internal audits in accordance with ISO 9001 2015

Knowledge
1. Have an ONC in either mechanical or electrical engineering and / or a minimum of five years relevant experience in an engineering discipline plus a proven track record in a quality control related role.
2. Fully competent in using a wide range of precision measuring instruments.
3. Computer literate and able to use the Microsoft Office software packages (Excel, Word, jrand Access).
4. Knowledge of SAP would be desirable but not essential.
5. Ability to operate a FARO arm CMM or equivalent would be desirable but not essential.
6. Welding inspection experience and minimum qualifications to CSWIP 3.0 (Visual Welding Inspector) would be desirable but not essential.
Skills
1. Have highly developed written and verbal communication skills coupled with excellent interpersonal / organisational skills.
2. Be self-motivated, numerate, cost conscious and possess a high level of analytic skills.
