This role offers £400 per day (Inside IR35) and is critical to the safe and efficient delivery of planned works across the rail infrastructure.You will take ownership of producing compliant Safe System of Work (SSOW) packs, coordinating with project teams, and ensuring all activities are undertaken in line with industry legislation, standards, and best practice.&nbsp;Key Responsibilities<ul><li>Produce accurate and comprehensive SSOW packs to safeguard personnel working on or near the railway.</li><li>Carry out detailed risk assessments, identifying hazards and implementing suitable control measures.</li><li>Liaise closely with project managers, engineers, delivery teams, and external stakeholders to ensure seamless planning and integration.</li><li>Ensure full compliance with all relevant rail safety regulations, standards, and company procedures.</li><li>Provide clear safety briefings and verify team understanding of SSOW requirements.</li><li>Update and adjust SSOW plans to reflect evolving site conditions, programme changes, or regulatory updates.</li><li>Support safety audits, contribute to incident investigations, and promote a proactive safety culture.</li></ul>&nbsp;Key Skills &amp; Qualifications<ul><li>Proven experience producing SSOW packs within the rail sector.</li><li>Valid SSOWP competency (Sentinel).</li><li>Current PTS certification.</li><li>Ability to start at short notice (ideally within one week).</li><li>Strong communication, organisational, and stakeholder management skills.</li></ul>&nbsp;About the EmployerYou will be joining a well‑established civil engineering and rail contractor recognised for delivering complex and safety‑critical infrastructure projects across Scotland and the wider UK. Safe System of Work (SSOW) Planner

We are looking for a highly skilled Site Agent with a robust background in managing projects for Scottish Power Energy Networks (SPEN). This role is situated in a busy and fast-paced project and maintenance environment where you will oversee a variety of multi-disciplinary civil engineering/electrical projects.
The wider regional team is also responsible for delivering infrastructure projects and maintenance works for a diverse portfolio of clients including Local Authorities, Network Rail, and Environmental Agencies.
The Role: As the Site Agent, you will be responsible for the daily management and successful delivery of engineering projects on behalf of Scottish Power &amp; Energy Networks, ensuring that they are executed on time, within budget, and to the required quality and safety standards.
Ensure that the contract is executed in accordance with:
All applicable legislation
Terms and Conditions of the Contract
Contract Health and Safety Plan
Work Package Plans and Task Briefing Sheets
Contract Quality / Environmental Plan
Manage projects to ensure they are delivered within programme and budget constraints.
Liaise with site staff and the managing surveyor to keep tender allowances within limits.
Continuously monitor contract progress to ensure objectives are met.
Identify and effectively manage changes to the contract in coordination with the site team.
Provide formal reports on contract progress to the Contracts Manager.
Requirements: To succeed in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and experience:
Qualifications:
Degree / HNC / HND in Civil Engineering
Experience:
Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC),
Appointed Persons,
IOSH,
Service Detection,
SPEN/SSE/DRAX Comp persons preferable.
Previous experience working in a substation environment and will carry the necessary competencies in line with safety rules 5th edition
Ability to interpret contract drawings and specifications accurately
Valid SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) certification.
Proficient record-keeping skills for progress and quality control
Experience at the Site Agent level in civil engineering contracting, particularly in energy and power-related infrastructure projects and maintenance.
