About the role
Transport for London is looking for an Assistant Capability Manager – Source to Contract (S2C) to support the ongoing development and continuous improvement of Procurement & Commercial capability across the organisation.
This role sits within the Procurement & Commercial Capability team and plays a key part in ensuring that S2C processes, tools, and governance frameworks are practical, effective, and aligned to TfL’s legal, commercial, and social responsibilities. You’ll work closely with Capability Managers, operational teams, and wider Group Services to help ensure Source‑to‑Contract processes are fit for purpose, consistently applied, and continuously improved.
What you’ll be doing
- Support the continuous improvement of Source to Contract processes, ensuring clear accountabilities, governance, and alignment across TfL.
- Use commercial S2C systems confidently to support sourcing activity, evaluation, reporting, and data extraction.
- Support user testing, process configuration, and system adoption, helping ensure new or improved solutions land effectively with end users.
- Carry out process mapping and impact assessment, understanding how changes affect areas beyond Procurement & Commercial.
- Run reports and dashboards against agreed performance metrics, highlighting compliance, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Translate data into clear commercial insight and actionable recommendations, not just reporting.
- Work closely with stakeholders across Procurement & Commercial, Business Services, Tech & Data, Finance, Legal, and HR to resolve issues and improve process efficiency.
- Support the development of guidance, standards, training materials, and communications to embed best practice.
- Contribute to benchmarking activity, ensuring TfL’s S2C processes reflect industry best practice.
Essential experience and skills:
- You’ll bring practical experience and a strong understanding of Source to Contract activity, coupled with the confidence to work across a complex stakeholder environment.
- Hands‑on exposure to procurement, sourcing, tender evaluation, or contract award activity.
- Practical, confident use of commercial Source‑to‑Contract systems (e.g. SAP Ariba or similar).
- Experience supporting process improvement, user testing, and system or process adoption.
- Ability to translate data into insight, drawing clear conclusions and recommendations for stakeholders.
- Experience in process mapping and understanding cross‑functional impacts beyond Procurement.
- Good knowledge of the procurement and commercial lifecycle and public‑sector governance.
Desirable:
- Experience in regulated or public‑sector environments.
- Exposure to infrastructure, CAPEX and OPEX environments.
- Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience in change management
