*Hybrid working within this role enables a balance of 50 per cent of time split between the office and home over a 4-week period. Hybrid working arrangements can evolve subject to business requirements.
*There will be a requirement for weekend and night working to support possessions and ensure works are undertaken within the planned remit and in accordance with Network Rail Rules and Procedures at least 25% of the year.
Overview of project/role
To support the Network Rail Operations Planners in the initial scoping, planning and safe delivery possessions, work sites and line blockages on Network Rail Infrastructure. You will engage closely with engineering delivery teams and departments achieving the highest levels of performance, safety and customer satisfaction in accordance with Network Rail planning standards.
Key Accountabilities
- Produce Safe Work Packs allocated by Operations Delivery Manager (Network Rail) to ensure the safe and efficient execution of engineering works on the railway network.
- Plan and Submit applications for worksite(s) as requested from clients into the possession planning system to gain access to deliver engineering works on the LU /Network Rail interfaces .
- Submit Line Blockage requests through the Green Zone to gain access to deliver engineering works on the LU /Network Rail interfaces.
- Assist the Operations Planners in the planning of possessions on Network Rail Infrastructure to ensure maximisation, optimisation access opportunities to ensure efficient running works sites within a possession.
- Support in the delivery of possessions and attend sites to ensure works undertaken within planned remit and in accordance with Network Rail Rules and Procedures.
Knowledge
- Good understanding of the possession environment (Essential).
- Good understanding of Network Rail Rules and Procedures (Essential).
- Understanding of how railway engineering works are undertaken (Essential).
- Competent to produce Safe Work Packs (Essential).
- Good understanding of LUL Rules and Procedures for Network Rail interface purposes (Desirable).
Skills
- Ability to communicate a clearly (Essential).
- Ability to make decisions (Essential).
- Ability to give clear explanations of decisions (Essential).
- Hold the competence of Safe Work Planner on Network Rail Sentinel (Essential).
- Competent to read and interpret technical drawings and Engineering diagrams (Desirable).
- Hold or have the Ability to hold other Network Rail competence such as Controller of Site Safety, Level B - DC Isolations (Desirable).
Experience
- Network Rail Possession Planning experience (Essential).
- Experience of possession scoping, planning and implementation (Essential).
- Experience of working to technical standards (Essential)
- Experience of safety arrangements when working on-track (Essential)
- Extensive railway experience coupled with a professional vocational qualification or degree level qualification (Desirable).
- Experience of planning major engineering projects (Desirable)
