The opportunity

Advance TRS is working with a leading multidisciplinary consultancy to recruit an Associate Project Manager for its growing Programme & Project Management team in the North-West.

Our client supports major infrastructure projects and programmes across the UK and internationally, with particularly strong demand across the Civils, energy and transport sectors.

This role combines strategic project and programme delivery with client relationship management, business development and work winning. It offers the opportunity to help shape the growth of an established consultancy’s North-West business while leading complex, high-profile client assignments.

The role

As Associate Project Manager, you will provide leadership across new and existing client programmes, supporting early-stage programme development and helping clients address operational, commercial and delivery challenges.

You will also play a key role in developing relationships, identifying opportunities and securing new work, drawing on the consultancy’s wider technical expertise to build solutions around client requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the delivery of complex infrastructure projects, programmes and frameworks, ensuring time, cost, quality and sustainability objectives are achieved.
  • Supporting programme formation, including the development of governance, delivery strategies and project objectives.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and senior stakeholders.
  • Identifying business opportunities and leading or contributing to bids and proposals.
  • Supporting the growth of the North-West Programme & Project Management team and the development of its service offering.
  • Leading multidisciplinary teams and coordinating specialist expertise to meet client needs.
  • Providing commercial oversight and supporting risk, procurement and contract management activities.
  • Coaching and mentoring junior colleagues.

About you

Our client is looking for an experienced, commercially aware project management professional with a track record of delivering complex infrastructure schemes in a client-facing environment.

You will be comfortable combining delivery leadership with business development, demonstrating the ability to build relationships, understand client challenges and contribute to winning work.

You will bring:

  • Experience delivering major infrastructure projects, programmes or frameworks.
  • A demonstrable track record of developing client relationships and contributing to successful work winning.
  • Experience preparing bids, proposals and supporting new service offerings.
  • Strong leadership skills, including experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Practical knowledge of construction contracts, particularly NEC3 and/or NEC4, or bespoke forms of contract.
  • A relevant degree in engineering, architecture, project management, construction management or a related discipline.
  • Professional accreditation or certification, such as APM or an equivalent qualification.

Experience procuring design and construction contracts on behalf of external clients would be advantageous.

What’s on offer?

  • Competitive salary, dependent on experience.
  • Profit share scheme.
  • Private medical insurance.
  • Life assurance, accident insurance and income protection.
  • Flexible benefits supporting health and wellbeing.
  • Ongoing professional development and career progression.
  • The opportunity to influence regional business growth and work on major infrastructure programmes.
