Our client is an established and growing infrastructure contractor delivering multidisciplinary engineering solutions across the UK rail and infrastructure sectors. With an excellent reputation for safety, innovation and collaborative project delivery, they continue to secure major frameworks and long-term infrastructure projects nationwide.
Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Commercial Manager to provide commercial leadership across major infrastructure projects, ensuring successful project delivery while protecting commercial performance throughout the project lifecycle.
Role & Responsibilities
- Lead all commercial activities from tender review through to final account, ensuring projects are delivered profitably and in accordance with contractual requirements
- Administer NEC contracts, managing change control, compensation events, risk and commercial reporting throughout the project lifecycle
- Manage procurement activities, subcontractor performance and supply chain relationships to maximise commercial value
- Work closely with Project Managers and operational teams to provide accurate forecasting, cost control and financial reporting
- Build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and key stakeholders while leading successful commercial negotiations and project close-out
Essential Skills
- Proven commercial management experience within the rail, infrastructure or construction sectors
- Strong working knowledge of NEC3 and NEC4 contracts, including contract administration and change management
- Demonstrable experience managing projects with values exceeding £5 million
- Experience leading commercial teams, subcontract management and negotiating successful final accounts
- Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline
Desired Skills
- Previous experience delivering major infrastructure or rail projects
- Chartered status (MRICS) or actively working towards professional accreditation
- Membership of a recognised professional body such as CICES
- Strong understanding of commercial strategy, financial forecasting and project risk management
- Ability to mentor and develop junior commercial professionals within a collaborative team environment
Salary range
- £70,000 - £75,000 per year
