The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated OLE & Lineside Civils Contractors Engineering Manager (CEM) to lead engineering assurance and delivery across complex rail projects. This is a critical leadership role, responsible for driving technical excellence and ensuring that all Overhead Line Equipment (OLE) and associated lineside civil works are delivered safely, compliantly, and to the highest industry standards.
Working on a flagship programme, you will be instrumental in ensuring engineering integrity while collaborating with key stakeholders across a dynamic and fast-paced project environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the designated Contractors Engineering Manager (CEM) in full compliance with rail industry standards
- Provide strong engineering leadership across OLE and lineside civils disciplines
- Ensure all works adhere to Network Rail standards, CDM Regulations, and relevant compliance frameworks
- Lead and coordinate multi-disciplinary engineering teams across project phases
- Oversee design reviews, approvals, and technical submissions
- Implement and maintain robust engineering assurance processes
- Engage with clients, stakeholders, and delivery teams to ensure successful project outcomes
- Proactively identify and manage engineering risks and opportunities
- Support project planning, resource allocation, and key delivery milestones
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience operating as a CEM within the UK rail industry
- Strong technical background in Overhead Line Equipment (OLE) and lineside civils
- In-depth understanding of rail standards, engineering governance, and compliance requirements
- Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams on large-scale, complex infrastructure projects
