Role Overview

The CRE-C (Contractor’s Responsible Engineer – Construction) will be responsible for overseeing and assuring the safe delivery of structural construction works associated with cladding, structural steel, reinforced concrete (RC), and roof canopy packages within the programme.

The role will ensure all works are delivered in accordance with Network Rail standards, project specifications, and construction assurance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the Contractor’s Responsible Engineer (CRE-C) for structural construction activities.
  • Provide technical assurance for:
    • Cladding systems
    • Structural steel installations
    • Reinforced concrete works
    • Roof canopy structures
  • Ensure compliance with:
    • Network Rail standards
    • CDM regulations
    • Approved construction drawings and specifications
  • Review and approve:
    • ITPs
    • WPPs / RAMS
    • Temporary works interfaces
    • Construction sequencing
  • Coordinate with design teams, site teams, subcontractors, and client representatives.
  • Manage quality inspections, NCRs, and close-out activities.
  • Support construction planning, staging, and possession activities.
  • Attend engineering, safety, and progress meetings.
  • Ensure all assurance documentation is completed and maintained.

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience operating as CRE-C on Network Rail infrastructure projects.
  • Strong background in:
    • Structural steel
    • Reinforced concrete
    • Cladding systems
    • Roof canopy construction
  • Knowledge of Network Rail assurance processes and standards.
  • Experience within major rail or station infrastructure projects.
  • Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Chartered or working toward Chartership preferred.
  • Valid PTS and relevant rail competencies desirable.

Desirable Experience

  • Major station redevelopment projects.
  • HS2, depot, or complex rail interface environments.
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary subcontract packages.
