
Cost Manager Rail

Salary: £35,000 – £40,000 (DOE)
Location: Cardiff (3 days in office, 2 days from home)
I’m supporting a globally recognised cost and project management consultancy in their search for a junior Cost Manager to join their team on a direct secondment into Transport for Wales. With a strong presence across the UK and Europe and a global footprint of over 3,000 professionals, this consultancy has built an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality commercial services across infrastructure, rail and utilities. Known for investing in their people, they offer clear progression routes, exposure to major frameworks and the chance to work alongside highly experienced industry professionals.
This role sits within a well-established commercial team, supporting the delivery of key infrastructure projects, including ongoing electrification works across the network.
You’ll work closely with an experienced Senior Cost Manager, gaining hands-on exposure to cost auditing, contract administration and structured commercial processes within a client-facing environment.
Essential Requirements
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
- At least 1 year of experience within infrastructure sectors such as highways, water, energy or rail
- Experience in a cost support, assistant QS or commercial role
- Strong attention to detail and a process-driven mindset
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- A proactive attitude and willingness to learn
Desirable
- Exposure to NEC contracts (any option)
- Cost auditing experience
