
Delivery & Integration Director – MetroLink, Dublin, Ireland
MetroLink invites applications for an experienced Delivery & Integration Director to play a leading role in delivering Ireland's largest ever transport infrastructure programme.
As Delivery & Integration Director, you will provide strategic leadership for the programme delivery of MetroLink, through procurement, construction delivery and entry into service.
This is a unique opportunity to help shape Ireland's first metro system and lead a programme that will transform how people travel across the Greater Dublin Area.
About MetroLink
MetroLink is Ireland's first fully automated, high-capacity metro railway and represents the most significant transport infrastructure investment undertaken by the State in almost a century.
The 19km railway will comprise 16 new stations connecting Swords, Dublin Airport and Dublin city centre, integrating seamlessly with Irish Rail, DART, Luas and Dublin Bus services to create a truly connected public transport network.
With trains operating every three minutes during peak periods, MetroLink will carry up to 20,000 passengers per hour in each direction and is expected to serve approximately 53 million passengers annually. Journey times between Dublin Airport and the city centre will be reduced to around 20–25 minutes, providing faster, more reliable and sustainable transport for future generations.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading the Delivery & Integration function and providing strategic direction, demonstrating organisational leadership and collaborating with the other MetroLink directors.
- The MetroLink team operate on a matrix basis. The role holder is required to be a visible leader demonstrating the appropriate behaviours to ensure the matrix operation continues to drive successful programme performance.
- Providing leadership to overcome the challenges that may arise during delivery of MetroLink, overseeing, and managing programme wide delivery performance to ensure best value delivery of MetroLink is achieved, safely and on-programme.
- Lead the development of all interface management requirements for each of the major contracts through procurement and overseeing contractors to ensure they are delivering against their contracts.
- Leading the management of interfaces with any external stakeholders, including Dublin City Council, Fingal County Council, National Transport Authority, utility companies and transport operators.
- Assuring the delivery of the MetroLink in line with safety and sustainability standards.
- Managing the reputation of the MetroLink Programme on behalf of TII and the Programme Director and acting as a brand ambassador for MetroLink.
Key Skills & Experience
- Leading a Delivery and Integration function (or similar function) in an equally challenging and complex mega programme.
- Experience as the Delivery Lead with direct oversight of highly complex large engineering capital investments of significant value (in the order of €5bn or equivalent value).
- Leading the delivery on highly complex large engineering capital investment systems through the procurement and construction stages into operation.
- Substantial experience gained within complex, safety critical infrastructure programmes in urban environments such as a metro or major rail scheme, preferably including heavy civil engineering and tunnelling works.
- Delivery within a public sector capital project environment as a client, contractor or delivery partner, with delivery as part of public sector client organisation desirable.
- Ability to communicate effectively across all levels, delivering solutions and results in multidisciplinary and dynamic environments, able to lead teams effectively in a matrix management organisation.
- Experience of successful engagement with a wide range of significant external stakeholders including statutory bodies, local authorities, utility companies, contractors and other.
- BSc / BA (Engineering, or other related discipline), with chartered membership of a relevant professional body such as IEI, ICE, RICS or APM preferred.
