Up to £400 umbrella
Role will be 100% site based with occasional requirement to attend main office locations for training/team meetings. Occasional WFH may be agreed with line management subject to project demands.
Ideally this person would have valid TWC and SMSTS qualifications. TWS can be considered. QUAF will also be required (Equipment Room Awareness).
Typically, this role is best suited to site-based operatives or supervisors who have a broad experience of construction works. Ideally experience includes LU trackside environments.
The Construction Engineering team consists of approximately 25-30 members and is growing. The team comprises of individuals from different professional backgrounds examples including site operatives, structural engineers and graduates. The culture is a collaborative one with each where the team leans on each individual's experiences as well as other departments as and when required.
Supervise construction activities in accordance with the project quality assurance framework, undertaking surveillance, inspection, and audit of complex multidisciplinary civil engineering works. Maintain accurate records of quality and progress to support effective reporting and assurance.
Keep the Construction Engineer informed of site technical issues, escalating risks and supporting programme control. Demonstrate strong on-site capability in supporting responses to RFIs and Field Change Designs, contributing to timely, practical solutions that support delivery.
Monitor contractor compliance with contract drawings, specifications, and Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), ensuring appropriate processes are implemented to meet contractual quality requirements. Participate in hold, witness, and review points, seeking specialist support when necessary. Support the review and acceptance of ITPs and Material Compliance Records (MCRs).
Contribute to defect, snagging, and handover processes, including documentation, coordination with engineers and assurance teams, and working with contractors to achieve timely closeout.
Apply sound knowledge of relevant legislation, standards, and best practice across the full project lifecycle.
