Looking for an opportunity to lead on carbon reduction, energy strategy, and ISO standards within a dynamic rail environment?

TXM Recruit is seeking an experienced Environment and Energy Manager to lead the development and delivery of environmental and energy strategies for a major rail client.

This is a permanent, full-time hybrid role based in Birmingham, offering a competitive salary of £45,000–£50,000 per annum, alongside an attractive Train Operating Company (TOC) benefits package.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Deliver environmental and energy strategies across multiple sites.
  • Develop and improve risk assessments, audits, and ISO management systems (ISO 14001, 50001, 14064)
  • Monitor and report on environmental performance, including carbon (Scope 1, 2 & 3) data.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce emissions, waste, and operational costs.
  • Support business-wide sustainability objectives and action plans.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental legislation and internal standards.
  • Lead internal audits and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Engage stakeholders to promote a strong sustainability culture.
  • Support sustainability reporting, business planning, and external submissions.

What do we require?

  • Degree (or equivalent) in a STEM-related discipline – desirable
  • Internal Auditor experience to ISO 14001 & 50001 standards
  • Membership (or working towards) of a relevant professional body (e.g. IEMA, CIBSE, Energy Institute)
  • Proven experience delivering energy and sustainability programmes across multiple sites.
  • Strong data analysis skills, including advanced Excel.
  • Experience working with environmental management systems and reporting tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving and project management capabilities
  • Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines in a challenging environment.
  • Good understanding of sustainability trends and the wider business environment
