Summary
An excellent opportunity for an experienced Civils / Construction Estimator has arisen to join an multi-award-winning leading specialist in civil engineering and construction services, delivering complex infrastructure and utility projects across the energy sector.
Based out of our client's office in Barnsley with site travel as required.
This is an exciting opportunity for a driven, detail-oriented professional to play a key role in pre-construction operations and contribute to the ongoing success and development of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing bills of quantities by taking off measurements and extracting details from specification documents.
- Prepare accurate cost estimates from first principal pricing methods including financial analysis.
- Prepare detailed tender programmes to support our tender bids.
- Undertake tender adjudication meetings with the Commercial Director prior to submission of bids.
- Prepare quotation letters accurately detailing our tender offer.
- Managing and evaluating supply chain enquiries to obtain accurate and competitive quotations.
- Provide input into project risk and value engineering initiatives.
- Building and maintaining successful professional relationships with our clients, consultants and designers.
- Chairing internal pre-construction handover meetings.
- Assist with business development opportunities.
- Provide project account and variation support to the Project Delivery team.
- Attendance at team, commercial and client/contractor on-site meetings.
- Attendance at tender site visit meetings.
What You Require
- Minimum of HNC in Construction.
- Minimum of 10 years' experience within construction.
- Experience and a proven track record within an estimating role within the construction industry with a desirable focus on civil projects - energy sector experience is a plus.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of first principles pricing techniques.
- Proficient in pricing and understanding SMM7 method of measurement.
- A keen eye for detail.
- Excellent analytical, numerical, and negotiation skills
- Proficient in the use of estimation software (ConQuest or similar).
- Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office including Project.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and specification documents.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to adopt a flexible and creative approach to problem solving, adapting to change in circumstances or information.
- An understanding of various forms of construction contracts.
Salary / Benefits
Competitive salary of between £55,000 - £70,000 dependant on level of experience and package including:
