You’ll influence the lives of millions
As the Lead Developer you will be responsible for the design and development of very high complexity software throughout the agile development lifecycle of Revenue Applications.
You’ll be developing large-scale, high-performance components for the Contactless platform. We’ll rely on you to develop systems that are elegant and robust, integrating a wide variety of systems across our hybrid on-prem and Azure cloud estate.
You will provide technical direction, guidance, and expertise throughout the software development lifecycle within an Agile team to ensure software complies with TfL architecture standards, design principles and coding standards.
You will be promoting knowledge sharing and adoption of good practice and contributes to the wider developer community.
As the Lead Developers you will lead and coordinate efforts within an agile development team. You will be responsible for development planning, technical guidance, mentor junior developers, and ensuring the alignment of development efforts with business objectives. Also play a crucial role in architectural design and technical decision-making
You’ll work as part of a Scrum team. That means you’ll be involved in activities such as code review, refinement, sprint planning, retrospectives, demos and daily scrums. You’ll work with other scrum teams using large scale scrum to produce coordinated and integrated high-quality working software.
You’ll get to use every bit of your expertise.
Constantly looking for better ways to develop software and experienced in developing robust Azure solutions and/or large scale back-end projects, you’ll be an expert in the following:
- C#
- Microsoft Azure
- Web API
- SQL Server
- Test Driven Development
- CI/CD (Bicep, PowerShell)
It would be highly desirable if you’ve also worked with the following: -
- React or another single-page application framework
- CSS3/HTML5/JavaScript
- Developing in TypeScript
- Developing in ASP.NET MVC
- Working with either Scrum or Kanban
- AWS

Hybrid working within this role enables a balance of 50 per cent of time split between the office and home over a 4 week period. Hybrid working arrangements can evolve subject to business requirements.
