Overview of project/role
The day-to-day operation of Engineering Vehicles, Rail Borne Plant including, loading materials and unloading materials as required, loading and unloading at the worksite and Ruislip Depot. Adhere to the agreed standards of safety, quality and reliability, to meet the units service requirements and meet safety, quality and productivity targets.
Key Accountabilities
- Loading and Unloading activities Engineering Trains and Road Vehicles.
- To work in conjunction with the Engineering Vehicle Operations - Logistics and Maintenance
- Working as part of a team engaged in Loading and Unloading of Vehicles on both loading Bays at Ruislip Depot and On-site
- Carry out on site operation of Engineering Vehicles Rail Borne plant.
- Carry out on-site operation of Long Welded Rail Train - End Loading Unit - ELKs - Cranes.
- Loading, unloading of all Engineering Vehicles around the combine.
- Undertake Site Person In Charge (SPC) duties including loading and unload vehicles from any location required on the LU Network
- To operate manual handling equipment and (WAH) working at heights on-site and at Ruislip Depot
- To actively liaise with the Loading Chargehands and EV logistics Manager to ensure that all loading activity is performed to the agreed standard
- Loading and unloading carried out to the required standards of safety, quality and reliability, service requirements
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
Skills
- Practical skills associated with loading and unloading
- Good communication skills to communicate effectively with other team members and management
- Able to understand and carry out written and verbal instructions and recommend appropriate action to suit site condition
- Able to correctly identify vehicles and their uses
- Demonstrate understanding of responsibilities concerning rules, regulations, documentation and procedures and able to apply these
- Able to operate Teleporter, Forklift if applicable for shift
Knowledge
- Thorough knowledge of all Engineering Vehicle rolling stock and safety procedures
- Knowledge of rolling stock safety procedures
- Knowledge of Railway Infrastructures
- Thorough knowledge of materials and equipment – identification, uses and safety factors to work with accordance with the Transplant Loading Manual (R0904)
- Competent as Banks-man / Slinger
- Knowledge of load of Engineering Vehicles, gauging and tare specifications.
- BTA (Basic Track awareness)
- IWA (Individual working alone)
- Safety critical licence
Experience
- Currently hold or have held a bankmans/slinger certification (Essential)
- Currently hold or have held a fork lift driving license (Essential)
- Currently hold or have held a railway track certification (Essential)
- Experience working in and around heavy machinery (Essential)
- Experience working within possessions/specified areas (Engineering vehicles).
