The Opportunity

We’re looking for an experienced Project Cost Consultant / Quantity Surveyor to join a growing commercial management team working across a diverse portfolio of major Rail, Highways and Aviation infrastructure projects throughout London and the South East.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially driven professional who wants exposure to major infrastructure programmes, varied projects and high-profile clients — while working alongside an experienced team of cost and commercial specialists.

With a significant pipeline of work and continued growth across the business, there are opportunities to build your experience across multiple sectors and develop your career within a major infrastructure environment.

A Major Opportunity at Gatwick Airport

A key part of the current portfolio is a major long-term infrastructure programme at Gatwick Airport, following the successful award of a significant framework.

The programme is now moving into delivery and offers the opportunity to work on high-profile aviation infrastructure with a pipeline of at least four years of work. This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable aviation experience while working alongside experienced client, commercial and project teams.

The Gatwick programme requires a strong site presence, with four days per week on site currently required. For candidates who successfully establish themselves within the project, there may be scope to review this arrangement after 6–12 months, depending on project requirements.

If you have experience across infrastructure, aviation, rail or highways, this is an opportunity to join a growing team at an exciting point in the programme, with further opportunities available across the wider London and South East portfolio.

Gatwick experience is desirable, but not essential — strong infrastructure cost management experience is what matters most.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Project Cost Consultant, you’ll support the delivery of cost management services across a range of projects and work packages, including:

  • Delivering cost management services across Rail, Highway and Aviation projects.
  • Managing cost monitoring, forecasting and variance analysis.
  • Preparing and contributing to cost plans, budgets, estimates and commercial reports.
  • Supporting senior colleagues across small to medium-sized commissions and key packages within larger programmes.
  • Reviewing commercial data and identifying risks, issues and opportunities.
  • Supporting effective risk management and commercial assurance.
  • Working closely with clients, contractors, consultants and internal project teams.
  • Providing clear and accurate commercial information to support project decision-making.
  • Contributing to the improvement of cost management processes and ways of working.
  • Taking ownership of your allocated workstreams and delivering them to a high standard.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone with a solid cost management background who can demonstrate strong technical capability and the confidence to operate in a project environment.

You’ll ideally have:

  • 5+ years' experience in cost or commercial management within infrastructure, transport or construction.
  • Experience across Rail, Highways, Aviation or wider infrastructure would be advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC3 / NEC4 contracts — including contract mechanisms and compensation events.
  • A good understanding of construction processes and cost management methodologies.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex cost and commercial information.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to work independently, prioritise workloads and remain effective under pressure.
  • A degree in Quantity Surveying or a relevant discipline.
  • Ideally working towards or holding RICS / MRICS or another relevant professional qualification.
  • CSCS certification, or willingness to obtain it.

Why This Opportunity?

This is more than a standard QS position. You'll have the opportunity to work across a varied infrastructure portfolio, gaining exposure to different sectors, clients and project environments.

You'll benefit from:

  • Major Rail, Highway and Aviation project exposure.
  • A growing pipeline of infrastructure work.
  • The opportunity to work on both standalone projects and packages within major programmes.
  • Regular engagement with clients, contractors and senior project stakeholders.
  • A supportive environment where you can continue developing your technical and commercial capability.
  • Clear opportunities to broaden your sector experience and progress your career.
  • Market-led salaries for the right candidates.
