This role is ideal for a proven rail professional with hands‑on experience delivering signalling or digital railway projects, who can operate effectively within a high‑profile, multi‑stakeholder environment.

The position sits outside IR35 and requires an individual capable of taking full ownership of delivery, governance, contractor management, and programme controls.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee project governance, risk management, schedule development, and progress reporting.
  • Coordinate interfaces across engineering, systems integration, assurance, and construction teams.
  • Manage suppliers and delivery partners to ensure alignment with requirements, milestones, and safety standards.
  • Drive project controls including cost tracking, change management, and reporting to senior leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant railway standards, technical specifications, and programme-wide assurance processes.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to resolve engineering, integration, and delivery challenges.

Essential Experience

  • Strong background in rail project management with a focus on signalling, CCS, ETCS, digital railway, or major railway systems delivery.
  • Demonstrable track record in managing complex, multi-disciplinary infrastructure or systems integration projects.
  • Proven experience working with Tier 1 contractors, engineering consultancies, or major rail clients.
  • Familiarity with UK rail standards, safety processes, and assurance frameworks.
  • Excellent stakeholder management capability across technical, commercial, and governance functions.

Desirable

  • Understanding of European/UK CCS, traffic management systems, or operational control systems.
  • Background in delivering projects within regulated, safety‑critical environments.
