Role Overview:

My client is looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team working on HS2, delivering a varied portfolio of infrastructure works including track drainage, highways, access roads, landscaping, planting and fencing.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a major infrastructure project where you will take ownership of a portfolio of project assets, treating each as its own mini project. Rather than focusing solely on subcontract management, you will be responsible for supporting the commercial performance of your allocated assets through effective cost management, change control and commercial reporting.

Working alongside experienced Senior Quantity Surveyors and Commercial Managers, you will manage your own workload while receiving guidance and support from the wider commercial team. You will work closely with operational teams and subcontractors to ensure that your allocated works are delivered successfully and commercially.

The role offers a collaborative working environment within an established commercial team, alongside a hybrid working arrangement based from the Chipping Warden office.

This opportunity would suit a Quantity Surveyor with experience in major civils or infrastructure projects who is looking to take greater ownership of commercial packages and continue developing their expertise under NEC contracts.

Key Responsibilities:
·You will support the commercial management of multiple infrastructure assets across the HS2 project, managing packages throughout the commercial lifecycle from procurement through to final account.
·You will manage subcontractor packages, helping to ensure that labour, plant and materials are effectively controlled while maintaining positive commercial relationships.
·You will support change management activities, assist with reporting on liabilities and accruals, administer NEC3 Option B subcontracts and identify commercial risks and opportunities throughout project delivery.
·You will assist with tender analysis, procurement and the establishment of new subcontract packages while working closely with operational teams to support successful project delivery.
·You will produce accurate valuations, forecasts, cost reports and commercial updates while ensuring project records are maintained correctly.

Essential Requirements:
·Previous experience working as a Quantity Surveyor for a main contractor delivering civils or infrastructure projects is essential, ideally within a highways environment.
·Candidates must have experience working under NEC contracts, with NEC3 Option B experience being highly desirable.
·You will have experience supporting commercial change management, cost reporting, forecasting and the administration of subcontractor packages.
·You must demonstrate strong commercial awareness, good communication skills and the ability to take responsibility for your own project packages while working as part of a wider commercial team.
·Experience within sectors such as highways, rail, water, nuclear or other major infrastructure environments will be considered.
·Candidates may be degree qualified, HND qualified or have progressed into Quantity Surveying through an apprenticeship or vocational route.

Desirable Requirements:
·Experience working on HS2 or another nationally significant infrastructure project would be advantageous.

This is an excellent opportunity to join one of the UK's largest infrastructure projects, offering long-term career development, ownership of varied infrastructure packages and the opportunity to strengthen your commercial experience within an established and supportive team.
