Company Information

An established and growing multidisciplinary infrastructure contractor is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team, supporting the successful delivery of major rail and infrastructure projects across London and the surrounding areas.

Working alongside experienced commercial and operational teams, you will play a key role in managing the commercial performance of multiple projects from tender stage through to final account

Role & Responsibilities

  • Managing the commercial delivery of multiple rail and infrastructure projects
  • Preparing accurate cost estimates, budgets and forecasts
  • Producing Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs) and monthly commercial reports
  • Preparing and submitting applications for payment and valuations
  • Managing subcontractor procurement, negotiation, payments and final accounts
  • Identifying, pricing and negotiating variations and compensation events
  • Supporting tender submissions and reviewing project estimates
  • Monitoring project costs, cash flow and commercial risk throughout the project lifecycle
  • Working closely with Project Managers and operational teams to maximise project performance
  • Building strong working relationships with clients, suppliers and subcontractors
  • Ensuring compliance with contractual obligations, particularly NEC forms of contract
  • Supporting commercial strategy and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement

Essential Skills

  • Degree, HNC or HND in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline
  • Previous Quantity Surveying experience within rail, civil engineering or infrastructure projects
  • Good understanding of NEC contracts
  • Experience producing CVRs, cost reports and commercial forecasts
  • Experience managing subcontractors and procurement activities
  • Strong knowledge of applications for payment, valuations and final accounts
  • Excellent commercial awareness and financial management skills
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • Full UK Driving Licence

Desired Skills

  • Experience delivering Network Rail, London Underground or wider rail infrastructure projects
  • Knowledge of Design & Build contracts
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Exposure to renewals, maintenance or multidisciplinary rail frameworks
  • Previous experience supporting tendering and estimating activities
  • Strong negotiation and contract administration skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and commercial management software
  • Working towards or holding professional membership with RICS or a similar institution

Salary range

  • £55,000 - £65,000 per year
