The role

Monitoring and reporting on the availability and performance of a number of data and voice radio services owned by the Buses Directorate on behalf of TfL. The job holder will assist the Radio Services Manager in ensuring that the services provided are of high quality by actively identifying and documenting issues and recommending solutions, attending site to review, fix or survey as and when required. Actively contribute to any radio project strategies and tasks to ensure expertise is shared and bus requirements are fully considered in any and all decision making.


Knowledge

  • Qualified to at least graduate level in communication systems or telecommunications engineering.
  • WLAN configuration & performance analysis knowledge at systems level.
  • Up to date working knowledge of PMR/MPT 1327 Radio systems and RF propagation techniques.
  • Ability to analyse and critically review communication systems data is essential.
  • Current and relevant understanding of Matlab or other data analysis software tools and techniques. Knowledge of agile methodologies, such as Scrum

Skills

  • High quality written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical and system issues in a way that non-technical management and staff can understand.
  • Ability to work well within a team both actual and virtual.
  • Self motivated with strong initiative skills.
  • Well developed observation skills and attention to detail.
  • Delivery focused with the ability to work well unassisted.
  • A Full UK manual driving license.

Experience

  • Prior experience in the management of some or all of the following communication systems: MPT 1327/WLAN/cellular.
  • Hands on experience in the use of PMR / WLAN / cellular coverage and performance validation tools to produce performance analysis and improvement reports.
  • Demonstrable experience in carrying out technical document review and analysis.
  • Previous career history including the creation and presenting of communication systems data analysis.
