
Rail Civil Design Engineer
Are you a civil design engineer with experience of working on Network Rail assets?
Do you have experience of asset management and designing civil aspects through buildability?
Location: Birmingham 3 days a week - 2 days from home
Rate: £350 - £400 day outside IR35
Contract length: Initial 6 months with possibility of 2 years worth of work

My client, a leading consultancy involved in the HS2 programme, is seeking a Civil Design Engineer to join their team on a contract basis. The successful candidate will support the design and delivery of civil assets throughout the construction phase of this major infrastructure project.
This is an engineer-level role, focused on the design, coordination, and development of civil engineering assets, ensuring compliance with project specifications and industry standards. The position requires prior experience working within asset management frameworks, ideally with Network Rail, to ensure designs align with operational and maintenance requirements.
Exposure to Materials, Technology and Acceptance (MTA) processes would be highly advantageous and will help candidates stand out, particularly in relation to approvals and standards compliance.
Requirements:
·Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
·Demonstrable experience in civil asset design within infrastructure projects
·Experience working with or alongside Network Rail standards or asset management processes
·Understanding or awareness of Materials, Technology and Acceptance (MTA) processes is desirable
