The Opportunity

EWI is supporting the recruitment of an experienced Claims Expert for a major rail infrastructure project in Manila, Philippines.

This is a specialist claims position requiring someone with substantial, hands-on experience managing, assessing and determining contractor claims on major infrastructure projects. The client is specifically looking for a dedicated Claims professional rather than a general Commercial or Contracts Manager whose exposure to claims has formed only part of a broader role.

The position offers the opportunity to work on a significant rail programme, dealing with complex contractual and claims matters within a major project environment.

Key Requirements

The ideal candidate will demonstrate as many of the following as possible:

• Minimum 5 years' dedicated Claims experience, preferably significantly more, working specifically as a Claims Manager, Claims Expert or similar on major projects.
• Strong hands-on experience managing, assessing and determining contractor claims.
• A legal or construction-law qualification is highly desirable, such as an LLB, LLM, Master's in Construction Law, Arbitration qualification or equivalent.
• Experience producing detailed quasi-judicial contractual documents, ideally including Engineer's Determinations under FIDIC Red Book 1999 Clause 3.5, or equivalent.
• Alternatively, experience drafting arbitration awards, adjudication decisions, judgments, determinations or expert claims reports would be highly relevant.
• Professional membership or qualification such as MRICS, MCIArb, Solicitor, Registered Attorney or equivalent would be advantageous.
• Experience working with FIDIC Red Book contracts on major infrastructure projects, particularly involving claims, is highly desirable.
• Previous major railway or metro project experience would be an additional advantage.
• Excellent written English and the ability to prepare detailed, technically robust contractual and claims documentation.

The Ideal Profile

This opportunity would particularly suit a senior claims professional who has built their career specifically around contractor claims, entitlement, contractual interpretation, determination and dispute-related documentation.

Candidates do not need to meet every criterion. The client recognises that finding someone who ticks every box may be difficult and is willing to consider strong Claims Experts who meet the majority of the key requirements

Package:

$10,000 to $13,000 per month Tax Free, plus an additional $3,000p/m for allowances
