Location: Hybrid - 1 day in Bristol, 1 day in Swindon, rest working from home or on-site (Wales and Western region)
Salary: £75,000 - £85,000 DOE + £7,500 car allowance

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Managing Quantity Surveyor to join a leading civil engineering contractor, focusing on rail station projects across the Wales and Western region.

In this role, you will be responsible for managing a team of 8-9 people, including 4-5 direct reports (Senior Quantity Surveyors), overseeing a £10m per year commercial responsibility until 2029. This position is ideal for someone with experience in rail civils (stations preferred) and NEC contracts, who is passionate about driving future work and building strong client relationships to secure long-term opportunities on the framework.

You will be responsible for robust commercial management, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in line with the contract terms. Your leadership will be pivotal in developing and nurturing a team, ensuring high standards and commercial success across the projects.

Managing Quantity Surveyor responsibilities:

·Lead the commercial management of rail civils and station projects, overseeing £10m per year until 2029.
·Manage and mentor a team of 8-9, including 4-5 Senior Quantity Surveyors, ensuring professional development and high performance.
·Build strong client relationships, driving future work and opportunities within the framework.
·Ensure compliance with NEC contracts (Option C & E) and manage risks, procurement, and cost control.
·Prepare and present monthly progress reports, CVRs, and other commercial documentation.
·Conduct site visits and attend project meetings to monitor progress and resolve issues.

Managing Quantity Surveyor requirements:
·2+ years of experience as a Managing Quantity Surveyor, or a Senior Quantity Surveyor with management experience.
·Strong background in rail civils, ideally station projects, but other rail disciplines will be considered.
·Proven experience working with NEC contracts, particularly Option C and E.
·Prior experience working with Network Rail and other clients within the rail sector is highly desirable.
·Degree qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field (Chartership is desirable).
·Experience working for a Tier 1 contractor (preferred but open to Tier 2/3 contractors).
·A proactive approach to relationship-building and driving future work.
·Strong leadership skills, with experience managing and developing commercial teams.
