Architectural Expert – Rail Stations (Philippines)

A market‑leading infrastructure recruitment specialist is supporting an international consultancy in their search for an experienced Architectural Expert to join a major national railway project in the Philippines. This is a long‑term opportunity to work on a high‑profile commuter rail programme delivering both elevated and underground stations.

Opportunity & Responsibilities

The successful candidate will take a lead role in the architectural design and delivery of rail stations, working as part of an international, multidisciplinary project team from design through construction.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead the full architectural design process for railway stations
  • Prepare high‑level design concepts, proposals, and presentations for client and stakeholder approval
  • Coordinate closely with Structural, MEPF, E&M, and Rail Systems teams
  • Review and approve shop drawings, RFIs, and material submittals
  • Conduct technical reviews of contractor claims and provide detailed justifications
  • Support the Cost and Contracts team with variations and commercial assessments
  • Apply strong knowledge of FIDIC-based contracts across design and construction interfaces
  • Develop and implement site inspection plans in coordination with Resident Engineers
  • Review contractor method statements and material selections
  • Monitor contractor programmes and identify schedule and critical path risks
  • Act as the primary architectural liaison with government authorities and local municipalities
  • Ensure compliance with international building codes, NFPA, and Fire & Life Safety standards
  • Support the Project Manager and Deputy Project Manager with daily project activities

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture (Master’s degree desirable)
  • Minimum 15 years’ experience, including:
    • At least 10 years on international rail projects
    • Proven experience with elevated and underground station design
  • Experience leading multicultural, international teams
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • NFPA
    • International Building Codes
    • Fire & Life Safety requirements
  • Working knowledge of FIDIC contracts
  • Previous experience on JICA-funded projects is an advantage
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken)

Salary

The salary on offer is likely to be $7,000 to $9,000 per month Tax free with additional $3,000 for allowances.
