The Opportunity

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Cost Consultant to join a major infrastructure programme at Gatwick Airport, supporting the delivery of a significant long-term programme within a newly secured framework.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a high-profile aviation project at a critical stage. The framework has been months in development and is now moving at pace, with the successful candidate playing a key role in providing robust commercial and cost management expertise.

This isn’t a role where you’ll be sitting on the sidelines. You’ll be working closely with the client, project teams and supply chain, helping to shape commercial outcomes on a major programme with a long-term pipeline of work.

The programme is expected to run for at least four years, offering genuine stability and the opportunity to build valuable aviation and infrastructure experience.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Senior Cost Consultant, you’ll take responsibility for delivering high-quality cost and commercial management across your package of work, including:

  • Leading cost management activities from pre-contract through to delivery.
  • Developing and managing cost plans, estimates, budgets and forecasts.
  • Providing accurate commercial reporting and identifying cost risks and opportunities.
  • Supporting procurement and pre-contract activities.
  • Managing and analysing complex commercial information.
  • Working closely with client, contractor and wider project teams.
  • Providing clear commercial advice and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
  • Supporting risk, change and commercial assurance activities.
  • Contributing to the successful delivery of major infrastructure works.
  • Supporting and mentoring junior members of the commercial team.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who is technically strong, commercially credible and confident operating in a demanding project environment.

You’ll ideally have:

  • Significant experience as a Quantity Surveyor / Cost Consultant within infrastructure.
  • Strong pre-contract and cost planning experience.
  • Experience delivering cost management across major projects or programmes.
  • Experience within aviation, infrastructure, rail, highways or similar major capital projects.
  • A relevant degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Ideally working towards or holding RICS / MRICS or another relevant professional qualification.
  • Experience with NEC3/NEC4 contracts is highly desirable.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • The confidence to stand behind your commercial advice and challenge when required.
  • A proven ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities.

Most importantly, we’re looking for candidates whose CV genuinely reflects their experience. We’ll be looking for people who can demonstrate their technical knowledge when challenged and who are ready to make an immediate impact.

The Gatwick Requirement

This is a genuinely site-based opportunity.

You will be required to work four days per week at Gatwick Airport. This is currently a non-negotiable project requirement.

For candidates who establish themselves successfully within the project, there may be scope to review this arrangement after approximately 6–12 months, with the potential to move towards three days per week depending on project requirements and performance.

Candidates based within a reasonable commuting distance of Gatwick are therefore particularly attractive, although lodging arrangements can be considered for the right person.

Why Join?

  • Work on a high-profile aviation infrastructure programme.
  • Join at an exciting point as the project moves into delivery.
  • Long-term programme – at least four years anticipated.
  • Market-led salary package.
  • Expenses can be considered where applicable.
  • Opportunity to build valuable aviation and major infrastructure experience.
  • Work alongside experienced commercial, planning and project professionals.
  • Potential for further opportunities across a wider UK infrastructure portfolio.
