
Senior Electrical Design Engineer
Company Information
Our client is a well-established and growing design and build contractor delivering complex multidisciplinary engineering solutions across the UK rail infrastructure sector. With a strong reputation for technical excellence and collaborative project delivery, they work on a wide range of Network Rail frameworks and major infrastructure schemes.
Due to an increasing project workload, they are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join their design team on an initial six-month Outside IR35 contract.
Role & Responsibilities
- Producing and developing Electrical (E&P) design packages in accordance with Network Rail standards, including Form E and Form F deliverables.
- Producing electrical drawings and layouts using AutoCAD.
- Preparing distribution board schedules, cable sizing calculations, bills of materials and labelling schedules
- Completing electrical calculations using Amtech, Trimble ProDesign or equivalent software
- Supporting Inter-Disciplinary Checks (IDC), design reviews and maintaining design logs
- Responding to Technical Queries (TQs) and Requests for Information (RFIs), liaising with Network Rail, BAM and multidisciplinary design teams.
- Supporting CRE/CEM processes and engineering compliance documentation in line with NR/L2/RSE/02009
- Providing design support across additional company projects, including tender support, calculations and drawing production where required
Essential Skills
- Proven experience delivering E&P LV design within the UK rail infrastructure sector
- Strong understanding of Network Rail design standards, engineering assurance processes and BS 7671
- Proficient in AutoCAD
- Experience using electrical calculation software such as Amtech, Trimble ProDesign or equivalent
- Experience producing Form E and Form F design submissions
- Experience supporting IDC processes and multidisciplinary design reviews
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities and deliver work to programme
Desired Skills
- Previous experience working on Network Rail frameworks
- HNC, HND or Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent industry experience)
- CRE accreditation or demonstrable CRE experience
- Experience supporting multidisciplinary rail design projects
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with clients, contractors and internal engineering teams
- Experience providing technical support during tender and pre-construction phases
Salary range
- £400 - £450 per day
