Our client is an established engineering contractor delivering multidisciplinary design and engineering solutions across the UK's critical infrastructure sector. With a strong reputation for technical excellence, collaborative working and investing in their people, they continue to secure long-term frameworks and major infrastructure projects.
Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint a Senior E&P Design Engineer to support the delivery of low voltage electrical power schemes across the rail infrastructure sector. The business is committed to developing talent and is keen to support an ambitious engineer looking to progress towards CRE (Design) status through structured mentoring and professional development.
Role & Responsibilities
- Produce and lead the design of E&P schemes with a particular focus on low voltage systems, including Points Heating, Signalling Power, DNO supplies and REBs
- Prepare and review engineering calculations, drawings, specifications and design documentation in accordance with project requirements and relevant standards
- Liaise with clients, multidisciplinary design teams and project stakeholders to ensure designs are delivered safely, efficiently and to programme
- Undertake design reviews, provide technical guidance and support engineering assurance throughout the project lifecycle
- Act as, or work towards becoming, a CRE (Design), taking ownership of technical quality and supporting the development of junior engineers
Essential Skills
- Experience delivering E&P design within the UK rail infrastructure sector
- Strong understanding of low voltage power systems, including Points Heating, Signalling Power, DNO interfaces and REBs
- Ability to produce high-quality engineering designs and technical documentation
- Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to project delivery
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
Desired Skills
- Previous experience operating as a CRE (Design) or demonstrable capability to progress into the role
- Knowledge of Network Rail standards, engineering assurance and design approval processes
- Experience working within multidisciplinary rail infrastructure projects
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards professional registration with a recognised engineering institution
- Passion for mentoring, continuous improvement and delivering engineering excellence
Salary range
- £55,000 - £65,000 per year
