Are you a Senior Project Manager with experience delivering complex civil engineering or major infrastructure projects?
Do you have strong NEC experience and the ability to work collaboratively with contractors and stakeholders to solve problems and keep major programmes moving?
Salary: £94,842.00 – £111,578.40 including flexible fund
Location: Aylesbury / Buckinghamshire area
Working pattern: Full time, minimum 3 days per week on site
Employment type: Permanent
An excellent opportunity has arisen for two Senior Project Managers to join HS2 and support the delivery of major civil engineering works across one of the programme's most significant sections.
The roles sit within the main works civils programme, covering major earthworks, bridges, viaducts and associated infrastructure. With substantial delivery still ahead, you will work closely with the main works contractor and wider project team to proactively resolve issues, manage interfaces and ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with programme and cost requirements.
This is a collaborative delivery role. You will be expected to challenge where required, but equally work alongside contractors, suppliers and stakeholders to identify solutions and achieve a common project goal.
Essential requirements:
- Significant experience in project or construction management within complex infrastructure.
- Strong civil engineering delivery experience, ideally across heavy civils, highways, rail, nuclear, tunnelling or similarly complex programmes.
- Experience working with NEC3 and/or NEC4 contracts.
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies, sequencing and programme delivery.
- Ability to review and challenge contractor programmes without needing to be a specialist planner.
- Strong contractor and supplier management experience.
- Previous client-side or consultancy project management experience.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, including experience managing challenging or competing stakeholder requirements.
- A collaborative, solutions-focused approach to project delivery.
- Understanding of CDM Regulations and their application within major construction projects.
- Experience monitoring project cost, schedule, productivity and delivery performance.
- Full UK driving licence, a vehicle, and willingness to travel between project sites.
Nice to have:
- Experience delivering projects valued in the hundreds of millions or working within a wider £1bn+ infrastructure programme.
- Heavy civils experience across earthworks, bridges, viaducts, highways or tunnelling.
- Experience of project controls including Earned Value Management, CPI and SPI.
- Experience taking major construction packages through completion, close-out and handover.
- Experience working with local authorities, utilities, landowners or community stakeholders.
- Experience working within an alliance or highly collaborative contracting environment.
This is an opportunity to join HS2 at an important stage of delivery, with significant civil engineering works still to complete over the next two to three years.
The successful Senior Project Managers will play a key role in keeping complex packages moving, resolving problems before they impact delivery and working collaboratively across HS2, contractors and stakeholders to successfully complete and hand over the works.
If you have delivered complex infrastructure projects and enjoy bringing different parties together to solve problems and achieve a common goal, please apply with a copy of your CV.
