Senior Project Manager – Work Packages (Rail Infrastructure)

A senior-level position responsible for leading the planning, coordination, and delivery of complex work packages within a major rail infrastructure programme. The role involves managing technical, financial, and schedule performance while ensuring alignment with overall programme objectives. The position requires extensive experience in multi‑package construction environments, strong stakeholder coordination skills, and the ability to guide multidisciplinary teams across all phases of the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Work Package Management

  • Define and review the scope, objectives, and deliverables of assigned work packages.
  • Develop detailed work plans, schedules, budgets, and resource allocations.
  • Oversee execution of work package activities to ensure delivery on time, within budget, and in accordance with required quality standards.
  • Monitor progress using KPIs, track deviations, implement corrective actions, and report regularly to programme leadership.

Coordination & Interface Management

  • Collaborate closely with internal departments, engineering teams, project managers, and technical leads.
  • Interface with external stakeholders such as design consultants, construction supervisors, and oversight bodies.
  • Resolve technical and contractual issues that arise across interfaces and ensure efficient information flow.

Planning & Reporting

  • Prepare project status updates, dashboards, progress reports, and presentations for senior stakeholders.
  • Manage risks and opportunities, implementing mitigation strategies as required.
  • Ensure adherence to programme management methodologies and project governance processes.

Team Leadership

  • Provide guidance, support, and coaching to project team members.
  • Assign tasks, supervise execution, and ensure team alignment with project goals.
  • Promote a collaborative, results‑driven working environment.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic, Transportation, or Telecommunications).
  • Master’s degree or professional certifications are desirable but not mandatory.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 20 years of total professional experience.
  • Minimum 10 years in the rail sector (metro & LRT expereince cannot be considered).
  • Minimum 5 years in a senior project management role overseeing work packages.
  • Proven experience working on complex, multi‑package construction or infrastructure projects, with strong planning, interface, and contract management exposure.

Technical Skills

  • Demonstrated expertise in programme and project management within large‑scale rail or infrastructure environments.
  • Strong knowledge of project controls, scheduling, cost management, and risk management.
  • Excellent proficiency in MS Office; experience with SAP is preferred.
  • Familiarity with engineering processes, design coordination, and construction supervision workflows.

  • Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and interpersonal communication.
  • Ability to manage multidisciplinary teams in fast‑paced environments.
  • Fluent or native‑level English communication (written and spoken).
  • High competence in problem‑solving, decision-making, and conflict resolution.
