Senior Planner

Location: Hybrid – 3 days per week in the office

Shape the Delivery of Major Infrastructure Projects

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Planner to join a growing Project Controls team, supporting the successful delivery of some of the UK's most complex infrastructure programmes. Working in a client-side environment, you will play a key role in developing, challenging, and maintaining project schedules that enable informed decision-making across the full project lifecycle.

This role offers the opportunity to work across a diverse portfolio of projects including healthcare, highways, data centres, and energy infrastructure, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to drive programme performance and project success.

The role is primarily office-based on a hybrid basis, with three days per week in the office and occasional travel to project sites as required.

The Role

As a Senior Planner, you will be responsible for developing and managing integrated project programmes while providing planning expertise to both internal teams and clients. You will work closely with project managers, commercial teams, engineers, and contractors to ensure programmes are realistic, robust, and aligned with project objectives.

About You

We're looking for an experienced planner who enjoys solving complex programme challenges and can confidently engage with project stakeholders at all levels.

You will ideally have:

  • Extensive experience using Primavera P6.
  • Proven ability to build project programmes from scratch.
  • Experience reviewing and challenging programmes.
  • Strong understanding of planning principles across major infrastructure or construction projects.
  • Awareness of Earned Value Management (EVM) and performance measurement techniques.
  • Experience working within a client-side, consultancy or major project environment.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently whilst supporting wider project teams.

Desirable Experience

The following would be advantageous, although training can be provided:

  • Experience working under NEC3 or NEC4 contracts
  • Previous site-based project experience.
  • Experience across one or more of the following sectors:
    • Healthcare
    • Highways
    • Data Centres
    • Energy
    • Major Infrastructure
