Are you an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor with a strong background delivering major infrastructure projects for a main contractor?

Do you have extensive experience managing NEC contracts, commercial change, subcontractors and taking ownership of projects from day one?

Are you looking for an opportunity to play a key role on one of the UK's largest infrastructure projects, delivering critical highways, drainage and finishing works?

Location: Chipping Warden office with hybrid working (minimum 3 days per week in the office) and occasional travel to site
Salary: up to £75,000 per annum DOE + £5,900 car allowance

Benefits:
·£5,900 car allowance
·Travel allowance paid at 33p per mile
·Subsistence package for candidates further than 50 miles or 2 hours away

Role Overview:

My client is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team working on HS2, delivering a varied portfolio of infrastructure works including track drainage, highways, access roads, landscaping, planting and fencing.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a major infrastructure project where you will take ownership of approximately 20 project assets, treating each as its own mini project. Rather than simply managing subcontractors, you will be responsible for the commercial performance of your allocated assets, ensuring successful delivery through effective cost management, change control and commercial reporting.

Reporting into the Commercial Manager, you will be expected to operate with minimal supervision from day one, working closely with operational teams while supporting more junior members of the commercial team. The role offers a collaborative working environment with a well-established commercial team and a hybrid working arrangement based from the Chipping Warden office.

This opportunity would suit an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor who enjoys taking ownership, managing commercial risk and delivering complex infrastructure packages under NEC contracts.

Key Responsibilities:
·You will take commercial ownership of multiple infrastructure assets across the HS2 project, managing the commercial lifecycle from procurement through to final account.
·You will manage subcontractor packages, ensuring labour, plant and materials are effectively controlled while maintaining strong commercial relationships.
·You will lead change management activities, produce accurate reporting on liabilities and accruals, administer NEC3 Option B subcontracts and ensure commercial risks and opportunities are identified throughout project delivery.
·You will analyse tenders, assist with the procurement and set-up of new subcontract packages, work closely with operational teams to ensure successful delivery and provide guidance and support to junior members of the commercial team.

Essential Requirements:
·Previous experience working as a Senior Quantity Surveyor for a main contractor delivering major infrastructure projects is essential, ideally within a highways environment.
·Candidates must have strong experience working under NEC contracts, ideally NEC3 Option B.
·Proven experience managing commercial change, reporting liabilities and accruals and successfully managing subcontractors.
·You will be comfortable taking ownership of projects with minimal supervision and have experience delivering projects within sectors such as highways, rail, water, nuclear or other major infrastructure environments.

Desirable Requirements:
·Experience working on HS2 or other nationally significant infrastructure projects would be advantageous, along with previous experience mentoring or supporting junior Quantity Surveyors.

This is an excellent opportunity to join one of the UK's largest infrastructure projects, offering long-term career development, genuine responsibility from day one and the opportunity to play a key role in delivering a major civils programme.
