The Opportunity

The market-leading infrastructure recruitment specialist is supporting an international engineering consultancy on a major Metro Line in Manila, one of the Philippines' flagship urban transport developments.

We are seeking a Senior Structural Engineer (Concrete Specialist) to join the design team based in Spain (Madrid or Valencia). This is a key technical leadership role, offering the opportunity to work on the design of multiple metro stations within a major international rail project.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the structural design of metro stations, with a focus on reinforced concrete structures

Perform hands-on structural analysis and calculations, not just managerial oversight

Manage and mentor a small team of 2-3 engineers + draftsmen/modellers

Ensure compliance with international design standards and seismic requirements

Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams across global offices

Deliver high-quality design outputs in English, while working within a Spanish-speaking team environment

Key Requirements

15+ years' experience (minimum 10-12 years considered) in structural engineering

Proven expertise in large-scale civil infrastructure / public transport projects (metro, rail, or similar)

Strong concrete design experience (stations, underground structures preferred)

Advanced proficiency in:

• SAP2000 v27 (essential)
• Civil eStudio (desirable)
• StatiCa (desirable)

Solid knowledge of AASHTO / American design standards

Demonstrated experience in seismic design and earthquake-resistant structures

Fluent Spanish (team communication) and strong English (project deliverables)

Preferred Background

Candidates with experience in seismic regions (Chile, Peru, Colombia, Mexico, etc.) are highly desirable

Familiarity with North American design codes and methodologies

Previous involvement in metro station design projects is a strong advantage
