Our client is seeking an experienced Railway Signaling & Mechanical Engineer (P.Eng) to support a major rail infrastructure programme in Ontario. This is a specialist role focused on mechanical interlocking systems, requiring a licensed Professional Engineer who can take technical ownership of design modifications, approvals and engineering deliverables.

A valid Professional Engineer licence in the Province of Ontario is an essential requirement for this position. Applications from candidates without a current Ontario P.Eng licence cannot be considered.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of simulation environments for railway mechanical interlocking systems.
  • Assess and propose modifications to existing mechanical interlocking infrastructure.
  • Review, approve and stamp mechanical interlocking design modifications.
  • Prepare technical specifications, design packages and contract documentation for construction works.
  • Provide engineering support during design and construction phases.
  • Identify, monitor and track construction deficiencies through to successful resolution.
  • Liaise with project stakeholders, contractors and client representatives throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years' experience within railway engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng) licence in Ontario – mandatory.
  • Strong understanding of railway mechanical interlocking systems.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of software programming within simulation environments.
  • Knowledge of USRC signalling system operations and maintenance.
  • Experience producing engineering documentation, specifications and construction packages.
  • Ability to review, approve and stamp engineering designs.
